Description

The National Coal Mining Museum for England is located at Caphouse Colliery Wakefield, where mining has been carried out for centuries. With 42 acres it boasts original buildings and equipment from the Victorian era to the 1980s (when Caphouse Colliery closed), the site is an authentic working coal mine. With the unique opportunity to film 140 meters underground, travelling in a cage of which it is one of the remaining few, there are many unique features across the site from machinery, to tunnels, drift, pithead baths, screens building, pit wheel and more.
